Sustainable Disaster Risk Reduction, WASH and Gender Based Violence Protection for Rohingya & Host Community of Cox’s Bazar District
Working Area:
Camp no 19 under Palongkhali Union of Ukhia Upazila in Cox’sbazar district.
Objectives of the Project:
To increase WaSH facilities at Rohingya Community of Cox’s Bazar District To Protect Gender Based Violence of Rohingya Community.
Staff orientation:

OPCA organized a staff orientation event on 4th December 2018 project staff are participated the orientation event at EFC LIVE FISH restaurant, Cox’s Bazar. Mr. Nimai Chand Mandal, Program Coordinator (PC), Federation of NGOs in Bangladesh (FNB), Mr. Rafiqul Islam Majumder, DPC, NGOF for Public Health, Mr. Salauddin Ahmmed, Team Leader, Public Health Engineering, OXFAM and Mr. Azizul Hoque, PM-WASH, CARE are present as guest facilitator in the staff orientation event. The facilitator discussed about disaster and disaster management, WaSH, WaSH in emergency Gender, Gender discrimination and courses, challenge in the Rohingya camp and technique of overcome the challenges, process of beneficiaries selection, procurement process. Staffs are oriented regarding above issues.
Inception Meeting:

Eight partner organization jointly organized project inception meeting at Ukhiya Upazila Parished auditorium on 5th December 2018. Upazila Nirbahi Officr, Ukhia present as chief guest in the inception meeting. Assistant Commissioner (Land), Mr. SHahin Kawsar, Ukhia, President Ukhia press club, Mr. Nimai Chand Mandal, Program Coordinator (PC), Federation of NGOs in Bangladesh (FNB), Mr. Ajit Nandi, representative of BRAC present as special guest. Project implementation organizations OPCA, SHED, Help coxsbazar, Jagonari, Nangor, PALSH etc. are attended the inception meeting.
Camp Site Section:

OPCA selected Rhingya camp-19 to installed four Deep Tube Well, four # of Two Chamber Latrine and four # of Bathing Cubicles. Site selection based on GAP analysis by the WaSH sector (OXFAM) and also communicate and consultation camp site management (IOM). OPCA also meeting with community people (User group) sub-block Maji, block Maji for site selection and regular communicate and consultation with CIC, site management, camp wash focal agency.
Installation of Deep tube well:

Ensuring safe drinking water for the Rohingha people OPCA installed four deep tube well at Rohingya camp 19 by maintaining procurement process by the contractor. Overall 70% work is done up to 15 January 2019. Total 713 (Female-239, Male-208, Child-276) Rohingha people will get safe water facilities from these Deep tube well.
Construction Two Chamber Latrine:

Ensuring Wash facilities OPCA constructed four two chamber latrine at Rohingya camp 19 maintaining procurement process by the contractor. Overall 66.95% work is done up to 15 January 2019. Total 268 Rohingya people will get Wash facilities after the completion these bathing cubicles.
Construction Bathing Cubicles:

OPCA constructed four Bathing Cubicles at above motioned location of Rohingya camp 19 by the contractor. Overall 66.28% work is done up to 15 January 2019. After completion of the construction bathing cubicles total 206 (Female-81, Male-56 and child- 69) Rohingya people getting bathing facilities from four cubicles.
