Organization for the Poor Community Advancement — Registered with NGOAB & Department of Social Services, Bangladesh
Strengthen the capacity of marginalized communities to improve their own livelihoods and claim the rights they're entitled to — through programs shaped by need, evidence and rights, not by tradition.
OPCA envisions a Bangladesh where poverty no longer defines people's lives — where every person lives with dignity and enjoys the rights they're owed as citizens.
OPCA was founded in 1992 to organize savings-linked credit for landless and marginal households in Mirsarai upazila. The model has since extended into agriculture finance, skills training, health outreach and disaster preparedness, always run through the same branch-and-passbook discipline the organization started with.
OPCA registers and begins group-based savings and credit work with landless rural households.
Additional branch offices open across Chattogram to bring credit and training closer to member households.
Health, WASH, disaster risk reduction and education support are added alongside the core credit program.
Passbook, audit, HR and asset records move onto internal digital systems, tightening accountability across every branch.
