A roundtable involving representatives of the government, UN agencies and humanitarian organisations was held in Cox’s Bazar on Wednesday to advance coordinated and sustainable healthcare services. Grameen Healthtech Limited (Sukhi) and OPCA jointly organised the meeting at the RRRC conference room in Baharchhara area of Cox’s Bazar town. Cox’s Bazar Civil Surgeon Dr Mohammad Chaber attended the meeting, along with senior representatives of the Refugee Relief and Repatriation Commissioner (RRRC), ActionAid Bangladesh, BRAC, Concern Worldwide, Danish Refugee Council (DRC), Department of Public Health Engineering (DPHE), Helvetas Bangladesh, IFRC, IOM, IRC, Plan International, Save the Children, UNFPA, UNICEF, WFP, WHO, NGO Platform and World Vision. OPCA Executive Director Md Alomgir and senior officials of Grameen Healthtech were also present. Dr Ahmed Arman Siddiqui, Chief Executive Officer of Grameen Healthtech, delivered the welcome address. The session was moderated by Mohammad Solaiman Russell, Chief Business and Technology Officer of the organisation. Dr Fahrin Hannan, Head of International Partnerships at Grameen Healthtech, presented an overview of the health situation among the FDMN population and local communities. Dr Hossain Md Al-Amin, Head of Research, Analytics and Customer Experience, presented field-level healthcare challenges and discussed potential technology-driven solutions. The discussion highlighted healthcare challenges and service gaps among local communities and Rohingya refugees in Cox’s Bazar, with participants stressing the need for coordinated initiatives.
